Father and daughter at Petaling Street’s annual lion and dragon dance parade.
By CHUA SUE ANN
A large crowd gathered while a dance troupe made last minute preparations.
It was an unusually hot day.
Some spectators gathered beneath the shade, while most braved the afternoon glare and huddled closely to the dance poles.
The children were unfazed by the heat.
They played while waiting for the thunderous drumming to begin.
I noticed this little girl entertaining herself, walking on the poles erected for the lion dance. Her daddy was close by.
He led her up the poles until she would climb no further. Then, a beautiful father-daughter moment occurred.
He held her firmly and carried her in his arms.
Today we celebrate dads for all that they have done and will continue to do for us.
Here’s to our fathers for always being strong and being there when when we need them most.
