Police arrest demonstrators at ASEAN summit

By POH SI TENG

Police arrested Parti Keadilan Rakyat Vice President Tian Chua and five demonstrators at the 11th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, police said.

The incident occurred outside the Petronas Twin Towers on Dec. 14, 2005.

In the clip, Tian Chua said, “… discuss nothing about human rights, put no pressure on Burma, discuss nothing about Pattani, discuss nothing about ecological destruction, discuss nothing about labour and migrants, refugees, etc.”

“Today ASEAN (has proven) itself to be a club of debaters, who refused to listen to any form of criticism from the people. We are here to demand that the police to stop all this harrassment on people.”
