  3. wow, thecicak on NPR. this is huge!!! malaysia has been in the news lately. the focus has mostly been on how the government is trying to compete with china and india for foreign investors, and that our economy has been stable among all the countries in south east asia… mostly business stuff.

at long last, a piece in the media on the absence of freedom of expression in malaysia. i’m so proud of thecicak team. keep up the good work.

btw, i looked up ‘malay skinheads’ on youtube - nothing came up wan. i suppose the video was removed…

  5. A few things I’d like to point out:

    1. That was brilliant. Congrats Poh Si.

    2. You still won’t change my mind on the caning sentence no matter how bloody that ass gets whipped.

    3. Referring to the Malay supremacy thing. Unless they go around wearing t-shirts with Hishamuddin waving the keris in a baju Melayu, then they’re not Malay supremacists. They’re just idiots who had no idea that Che Guevara was a communist who hated religion as a whole, including Islam, and insists on wearing his face across their chests.

If they really were Malay supremacists, they’d be wearing baju Melayu’s, holding gatherings in the middle of the night at Dataran Merdeka, shouting “Merdeka” 10 times with that “sieg heil” salute of theirs.

And they’d still be idiots; because the proclamation was at Dataran Pahlawan, in Melaka.

    4. I congratulate you all on the interview and for finally getting someone to listen.

    5. And Poh Si, just a quiet reminder…urm…not all of us are expatriates…lol!

  6. Poh Si:

Thanks for fighting the good fight. As long as anyone in the world is silenced, the ability to speak and hear the truth is compromised.

  7. Hi Aput,
Thank Kathy Corcoran. She did a lot of reporting to produce this story.

Oh, I wouldn’t call myself an ex-pat. It sounds like I deserted Malaysia.
    Yau! :P
