The Police want to frighten those who can make a difference in some small way. That’s why they arrested Nat - it’s purely to intimidate those who might be tempted to join any efforts, political or non-political, to alter the status quo here.

People should not fear their government, their government should fear the people.

Political prisoners are usually held in Kamunting, Perak. Late grand-uncle was taken to the same place for supporting a socialist movement in the 60’s.
So why did they take in Nathaniel Tan? All I read about in the article link states that there’s no actual legal charge, just pure rhetorical statements of how the government is trying to instill fear in the blogging community.
And finally, the Malaysiakini link tells us that he’s being detained under OSA. So what official document did he have this time around?
Could it be the toll concessionaires agreements with the government that Sami Vellu recently decided should not be shared with the public?
Or could it be a reprisal of Tian Chua’s fake photographic candor of Najib and Altantuya?
Either way, I would think a member of Keadilan would know what he’s getting himself into when you’re the underling of a person who messes with the DPM himself.
Expected, but unfair.

Precisely - there is no charge! Why should the police be holding someone they can’t charge with anything? The “official secret” was not distributed by him - it appeared in a comment on his blog, and so legally was published by him, but the cops have not charged him with publishing an official secret. They’re just “investigating”, but how much are you going to find out about a blog comment from the webmaster? Why detain him for four days?
It’s intimidation, pure and simple.

You are resorting to political propaganda when you make the false claim that the police want to frighten the rakyat. Nathaniel is no small fish but a prominent politician in Keadilan and so, he knew what he was doing breaking the law when he disclosed official secrets.
